Isothermal forging is a type of forging process that involves shaping a material while maintaining its temperature at a constant level throughout the forging process. In other words, the material is heated to a specific temperature and then held at that temperature while it is being shaped.
The isothermal forging process involves heating the material to a temperature that is slightly below its melting point, but high enough to allow it to be shaped easily. The material is then placed into a die or mold which has the same temperature, and pressure is applied to shape it into the desired form. As the material is shaped, it is kept at a constant temperature to ensure that it remains malleable and easy to work with.
The key advantage of isothermal forging is that it allows the production of complex, high-precision parts that would be difficult or impossible to create using other forging methods. The constant temperature also helps to prevent defects such as cracking, which can occur when a material is cooled too quickly after being shaped.
Isothermal forging is commonly used in the production of components for high-performance applications such as aerospace, automotive engineering and orthopedic implants, where the strength, durability, and precision of the parts are crucial. It can be used with a wide range of materials, including steel, titanium, and aluminum alloys, among others.

This isothermal forging cell is set up as a self-sufficient production unit.
The charging manipulator transports the blank from the charging lock to the rotary hearth furnace, removes the heated blank and places it in the die. The forged workpiece is removed from the die and is deposited in the charging lock.

The isothermal forging cell essentially consists of the following components:
